The morning before my surgery I got a call from a at home physical therapy place. They had been told to drop of a Game Ready Super Awesome Cold Therapy Machine. It is awesome. Basically I fill it with lots of ice and some water, then I sit on a bench and look cool. It circulates cold water all over my knee and also uses compressed air to squeeze my leg and stimulates the muscles around my knee.

Its like healing for nerds. Its got buttons and LCD screens and all sorts of options. Also that morning the door bell rang and a package arrived.It was of all awesome toys to get before surgery an iPod nano. It so little.

What happened was Sarah and I signed up for this promotion at a bank where we deposited $50 and got a credit card or something then they gave us a free iPod Nano. So I spent the rest of my morning fiddling with that. This worked out well since I couldn’t eat and Sarah needed lunch. I didn’t even look up from the computer.

After my surgery everything was good…I was tired but I was able to eat. That equals good. Real good. Unfortunatly the next day I was rocking the cold therapy, getting GAME READY as it where, when I took the knee cuff off and noticed that holey shit my knee was bleeding(or as a surgeon will tell you draining). I was like oh and Sarah and I headed to the bathroom to change the bandages after consulting with the Doc.

While changing the bandage I couldn’t get the drainage to stop. I started to get light headed, Sarah was all ready light headed so we figured, heck, lets just let the medical people deal with it. So I hobbled down the stairs, to the car and off we went.

Of course by the time we got there the bleeding drainage had stopped. So they checked my stitches and said that it was all good and that lateral releases drain a lot. Right. Like my last one that didn’t drain at all. Crazy.

So that night and another time it drained a little more and I just left it alone. Draining sux.

On another note I believe I wrote at one time about this trick. It is called Silver Dream. Watch the video. I watched it for about 3 weeks and still had no inkling of how it worked. The great thing about this trick is that it is slick and ballsy. Basically it is the great principle of magic that you can control what people see and where they look because even though they don’t trust you they still follow where you are looking.

After consulting with my creative partners Mark and Harper I decided to order the trick. The DVD quality is good as most ellusionist videos. My only complaint is that Justin Miller the creator really has a bad habit of trying to look like neo in the perfomance segments. During the teachnig segments he is amazing. His technique is flawless and he does a great job of breaking down the moves to manageable steps.

Before this trick I never wanted to learn coin tricks other then super gimmicked ones like coin bite or SLAM. Now however I want to learn all of the slieghts and what not of coin magic. Don’t get me wrong I still love cards but coins are so much more hard hitting because everyone has seen coins and trust them. They aren’t made of paper and they are also made by the goverment so people trust them. Or they used to until W got into office. Stupid W ruining coin magic.

Right.

So after I got my shit rehydrated and such sarah and I got ready to leave. Since we had valet parked the car they had parked it in god knws where and we couldn’t find it. They gave us the keys andpointed “over there” Check sarah’s blog for I am sure a more sassy account

Three weeks after this surgery I will get the other one worked on to do the same thing on the right.

3 months of physical therepy

. Oh Yeah.

on a more fun note my anniversary is soon. Sarah and I have ruled the 1 year mark. if the first year is supposed to be the hardest, the rest of married life is going to rule because this last year was great. let this be a lesson to ya’ll live together before you get married. oh and meet an awesome gir to fall in love with.

Since I have hurt another joint i figured i would tell you guys about another injury that entertaining has caused

Stupid Ankles

A long time ago I hurt my ankles. I was at gymnastics class which was an evening class that Sarah and I took for fun. I had been working on doing double front and back flips on the tumble trak which is a long trampoline used to provide more bounce then a floor. I had also been working on round off back handspring back tuck fron tuck. basically you do a funny cartwheel landing backwards on both feet then fling yourself over backwards landing on your hands then back to you feet where yuo fly up in the air doing a back tuck(flip) and then when you come down from that you do a punch front(flip). well it all went really well round off backhanspring then I went into the back tuck and got about a bajillion feet in the air. As I was coming down I was mentalliy preparing myself to do the punch front. I started the jumping motion to soon and instead of going back up I went down hard. I rolled both ankles out and just laid on the ground saying owwie owwie owwie when i wanted to say fuck!. I rolled about until my coach came over and started to help me out. he put ace bandages on them and ice and then Sarah helped me to my her car where she drove me home. I walked in the front door and the funiest thing happend.

First I must explain that the next day i was to give my mom a ride somewhere, where is not important. So, I walked in the front door and told my parents what heppened and headed downstairs with sarah’s assistance. I get down there and my mom comes steaming into the room and asks “who is going to give me a ride to the (whatever)? I said I didn’t know cause I had just messed up both of my ankles. so, she went back upstairs and like 5 minutes later came back down to make sure i was ok and to apologize for being crazy. she might deny it but it is all true.

There are many funny stories about how I have hurt my self and I am planning on sharing a few.

Here is the Elbow Story
It was the day of the all star clown show, I had just spent the last week perfecting my clown makeup and getting a new costume. I had also been working with Bob on a boxing gag. Bob was probably six foot something and more then three hundred pounds. A big man compared to my five nine one twenty five self. The gag went flawlessly with the champ (Bob) being beaten by the wimpy challenger (me). Then the show was over.
After the show while other clowns where signing autographs I was running about juggling. That’s when it happened. I was running in my size seventeen clown shoes while juggling three clubs when I tripped. As I tried to catch myself my left elbow bent backwards and became dislocated. Don’t ever do that it is not fun. So there I was on my back, with my elbow bent all funny with a bunch of screaming kids saying do that again that was funny. I finally recognized one of the teacher’s kids and sent them for help. When Dale Bothum got to me he asked if my elbow normally did things like this or if he needed to call and ambulance. I asked for the ambulance.
Lucky for me the ambulance drivers in Minnesota have a sense of humor. The ambulance pulls up near me and out jump the paramedics. They bring over the backboard and start to place me on it. The funniest one asks me how I am feeling checks my capillary reflex all that paramedic stuff and then asks me if I was clowning around when I got hurt. HA HA. They loaded me onto the ambulance and took me off to the hospital.
As we were riding to the hospital they wanted to put an oxygen mask on me so that I could breathe easier not go into shock or whatever. The problem was that my clown nose was still on and they couldn’t get it off. They where pulling all nice and finally I just reached up and yanked it off. Once the oxygen mask was applied I just laid there on my back waiting to arrive at the hospital and wishing that there was a poster or something to read n the ceiling on the ambulance. I asked why there wasn’t twice.
Upon arriving at the hospital they transferred me to a proper hospital gurney and tried to remove the oxygen mask. I say try because it had bonded to what was left of the nose glue on my nose. So once again I had to rip it off. At that point they gave me a conscious sedative to calm me down and take away y the pain. Shortly after that in my drugged up time frame they took me to the x-ray room to be x-rayed. The lady in the x-ray room found the fact that a clown was in here x-ray room to be hilarious and after taking my x-ray posed for a picture with me.
Once the doctor saw my x ray he explained to me that I was lucky in that I hand ‘t broken any bones in my elbow but I had dislocated it the hard way, straight back. She then said that she was going to need to give me morphine but I was not mentally able to sign the consent form because of the previous drug they gave me and I needed to pick someone to be a guardian for me. I pick someone at random first and the doctor suggested that I should pick someone I knew. So I chose Joe Barney aka Doc Geezer, one of the teachers at camp. He signed the consent and it was off into crazy land. The morphine hit me like a ton of bricks making all the pain go away and making me crazy.
While they where waiting for the drug to take affect I was left to my on devices. Those devices just happened to be show tunes. I don’t know why but I started singing the phantom of the opera with different voices for every character. They politely told me that I needed to be quiet because I was waking up other patients in the E.R. After about five minutes of show tunes they came in and re located my elbow. Talk about a POP! It was disgusting.
After that they took me to a room where a nice nurse helped me remove my clown makeup and get into a bed where I slept until morning. The next day I flew home and started physical therapy and my first semester at college. About two weeks after coming home I started to do gymnastics again and was soon back up to my old tricks.

I am currently working on a new clown look\act etc. I had an idea of the way I wanted it to look and after consulting with some other clowns I might change some things and revery a little back to the old clown while continuing forward in my development.

I am sleepy.
